VAN RYSEL AND PENTE DOUCE
Sometimes, chance leads to beautiful things. It was when we happened to spot an ad from Pente Douce that had our cycling boots in it that we first made contact. We at VR were curious to know what was behind this budding new brand, and we were delighted to find a group of cyclists passionate about their product and about Made in France.
We just knew we had to introduce their products to our users! Here is their story.
PENTE DOUCE: THE BEGINNING
After many discussions on what the ideal sock should be, we turned to the question of manufacturing. It was important to us to rely on French expertise in order to ensure a high quality sock that was breathable, comfortable, and had excellent hold.
We therefore got in touch with the manager of a hosiery in the south of France who is now our exclusive partner for the development and manufacture of our Made in France sport socks.
PENTE DOUCE: THE LAUNCH
After several months of discussions and tests, the first prototypes came out of the factory in February 2019. Next challenge was how to fund this lovely project,
and crowd-funding seemed the logical next step. Cyclists would fund the launch of the product by pre-ordering their socks.
After a two-month campaign on Ulule (online platform), over 100 cyclists had backed us. Our initial goal reached and exceeded, the project was on its way!
Made in France
Our socks are designed in Mayenne (France) and manufactured in the Limousin (France).
This process delivers a level of quality that is rarely found. Our socks carry the manufacturer's Guaranteed Origin France label and are built on their expertise in the fabrication of ultra technical sport socks. For three generations they have been working with some of the biggest names in the apparel industry, ensuring a singular production quality.
Our socks are created by our team based in Laval.
