Select the size of speargun to suit your type of spearfishing
Hole fishing: seeking out fish in the holes where they hide. Use a 35 cm to 75 cm speargun.
Ambush fishing: moving forward and surprising the fish as it emerges from behind a rock. Use a 75 cm to 90 cm speargun.
Long wait: in a "hide" position and blending into the sea floor, arouse the fish's curiosity to bring it within shooting range. Use a 90 cm to 110 cm speargun.
Stalking: descend towards the fish, often shooting from far away. Use a 110 cm to 120 cm speargun.
