Stringing the yo-yo
Roll the unknotted end of the string between your thumb and index finger to untwist the string to form a loop. Slide the yo-yo into the loop. Alternatively, unscrew the yo-yo and place the loop directly over the yo-yo's axle. To make yo-yoing easier, form a figure-of-eight with the loop and pass both loops over the axle. Then, twist the string back together (in the other direction) so that it's nice and tidy.
Adjusting the length of your yo-yo's string
The string's length needs to be adapted to your height. Set the yo-yo on the ground, just in front of your feet. Then unroll the string to your belly button. Cut off any surplus if necessary, then make a loop in the string at your belly button using your middle finger. Be careful not to cut off so much that the string no longer reaches your belly button once you've made the loop. Now you're ready for some family fun playing with this traditional toy that everyone is sure to love!
