TRAINING base layer
The TRAINING road cycling base layer has been designed to meet your needs on winter endurance rides.
Riding in winter means doing some serious base training, which is why we have designed the TRAINING base layer. With the right thermal protection, you can stay warm on your base training rides. Good perspiration management will also keep you dry after those sprints to defend your title!
Directions for use
It's tricky giving advice on cold-weather clothing because it depends on how sensitive you are to the cold.
However, there are two bits of advice that apply to everyone:
- don't wear too many layers as you'll lose the benefit of your warm clothing, plus you'll be uncomfortable.
- when road cycling or mountain biking, you should always be a bit cold to begin with. You'll soon warm up when you've been pedalling for a few minutes, so starting a bit cold will be comfier in the long run.
The perfect combo
Most people find that a base layer under a winter jacket is what they need. It protects you from the cold when exercising, while also letting perspiration escape.
If you tend to feel the cold, you could also wear a long-sleeved jersey, but this will stop perspiration escaping. Instead, try different thicknesses of jacket, even if it means owning two of them.
Essential, Training and Race ranges
You'll find 3 levels within our Van Rysel winter cycling base layers range.
Essential: the warmest products for low-intensity effort where you don't need to wick perspiration away or have a high level of temperature regulation.
Training: the perfect balance between warmth and perspiration wicking.
Race: the perfect balance between warmth and breathability. The idea isn't to remove perspiration, but to limit it.
Product tests
Our team of product designers based at the B'Twin Village in Lille is continuously working to make cycling more comfortable for our users. Our obsession is to create products that meet the specific cycling needs of our users and eliminate hindrances to a good cycling experience.
We then test our products in the field, as we are convinced that only by subjecting them to real world conditions, such as those you experience on your bike, can we continuously improve our products
