Durability
This tyre is originally mounted on your Riverside 500 electric bike (ref 8405314). Certain testers have covered 3000 kilometres without getting a puncture and without a high degree of tyre wear.
When you combine 60 TPI casing with EPS (Exceptional Puncture Safety) from CST, you virtually have a puncture proof tyre!
How to assess tyre wear
To measure your hybrid bike tyre wear, and subsequently know when to replace them, you have to inspect the condition of the tyre tread.
Actual signs of tyre wear might be:
- a frayed tyre tread,
- a series of micro cracks,
- a tyre tread that is tending to flatten,
- the tyre casing is starting to show.
As many cases where the tyre is worn and must, therefore, be replaced.
How to remove a tyre
To remove a tyre, you have to completely deflate the inner tube. You will then be able to work loose the tyre from the rim using a tyre lever.
How to fit a tyre
To fit a tyre, place one side of the tyre bed in the rim strip. Once this is done, pre-inflate your inner tube approximately 30% before mounting the tyre (the prior inflation prevents pinching the inner tube).
Then fit the second side of the tyre bed in the rim, starting from the opposite side of the valve.
Before completely inflating your tyre, check the inner tube is not wedged between the tyre and the rim.
How to properly inflate a tyre
Take care when inflating your tyre. The recommended tyre pressure is indicated on the tyre's side walls.
Make sure before each outing that you have the suitable tyre pressure.
Pro tips
When inflating your tyre, check you have the right amount of pressure adapted to the terrain you will cover and especially the weather conditions.
If riding in wet conditions, don't hesitate to reduce the tyre pressure to increase traction.
Conversely, when riding in dry weather conditions, you can increase this pressure.
