Probe diameter and tip
The diameter of the cone-shaped tip is wider than that of the probe, making a larger hole, so that the probe penetrates more easily into the snow piled up by the avalanche
The probe consists of 6 sections with a diameter of 11mm
Product improvement
In response to the reviews you posted on our website, we made a few changes to our probe:
- Knots on the larger cord, so that they are large enough to get blocked in the throat of the probe.
- 1st knot is offset so that the cord is more taut and more rigid
- Addition of a plastic handle sewn on the cord to deploy the probe
Depth marking
For effective probing, and to find out the depth of the victim, the sections have a marking every 10cm with a more visible marking every 50cm.
Did you know?
Gloves should be worn when probing to avoid contaminating the area with odours other than those of the victims.
The safety pack
Mountains are wonderful adventure playgrounds but you need to take certain precautions when exploring them:
The minimum safety pack is made up of an avalanche transceiver, a probe and a shovel. However, do not feel that you are free from all danger simply by having these three items.
The probe
It’s used to locate the victim and gauge the depth of snow under which they are buried.
