Co-creation with passionate hunters
We have surrounded ourselves with a team of passionate bow hunters, some of which are mandatory training day instructors and specialists in compound bows and their optimisation. Together we have defined our needs as European hunters, both in terms of short shooting distances and the need for quiet and discreet weaponry. This led us to the design of a single cam bow, with a smooth draw mechanism, no vibration and simple to adjust. We couldn't have done it without them.
Choosing the power
Choose the power according to your level. If you are a beginner, we recommend that you set the power to the minimum of 45 pounds. It is powerful enough for deer hunting and will allow you to acquire the right technical gesture.
Later on, you can choose the power according to your physical strength. The more you train, the more you can increase the power.
Measuring the draw length is essential
Select your arrows based on your height: your draw length. To do so, stretch out your arms against a wall to make a cross with your body. Measure the distance from the end of your middle finger on your left hand to the end of your middle finger on your right hand. Take this measurement in cm; divide by 6.35. The resulting number is called your draw length and is measured in inches.Adjust your draw length on the lower pulley of the bow: module AND stop. The scales help you to find the right position.
Adjusting the draw length
You must adjust the bow's draw length according to your measured draw length. The adjustment is done on the lower pulley, with the orange module on the one hand and with the large stop screw on the other. Both settings are mandatory. These 2 parts are scaled with numbers, which correspond to the draw lengths. Set the module and stop in front of the number corresponding to your personal draw length. Use the Allen key supplied with the bow.
Selection of Solognac arrows
Select the arrow size corresponding to your draw length:
26″ to 27.5″, choose size S, 28″
28″ to 29.5″, choose size M, 30″
Over 29.5″, choose size L, 31.5″
Power adjustment
Your bow is delivered with the power of 45 pounds.
To reduce the power, loosen the black screw located in the centre of the limb in connection with the handle. You can use the Allen key supplied with the bow.
Turn anticlockwise to decrease the power. 1 rotation = 3 pounds.
To go from 60 pounds to 45 pounds, rotate 5 times. NOTE: THE MAXIMUM POSSIBLE IS 5 ROTATIONS.
Peep sight adjustment
At the top of the string is a plastic ring called a “peep sight”. This piece is necessary to use the sight. Indeed, once the rope is pulled to your face, you must look through the peep sight and align it with the front sight. When your eye, peep sight and front sight are aligned, you can release the arrow.
Adjust the position of the peep sight on the string so that it naturally faces your eye. Then tighten the peep sight to secure its position.
String, cables
STRING:
BCY 8125G
92 inch length, 16 strands
CABLES:
BCY 8125G
33 inch length, 16 strands
Sight adjustment
Your compound bow is equipped with a sight that has 3 fibre optic pins. Generally, a pin is associated with a specific distance. For example, you can adjust the top pin for 20m, the middle pin for 30m and the bottom pin for 40m. Make sure to place the top one approximately in the centre of the sight's ring. You can use the Allen keys supplied with the bow to make adjustments.
Sight adjustment continued
The first time you want to adjust the sight, stand 10m away and shoot 3 arrows. Adjust the sight in the direction of the mistake: if the arrows are too high, move the entire sight block upwards. If you are shooting too low, move it downwards. The same goes for right and left.
Next, step back to 20m and make the adjustment again, always moving the entire sight block.
To adjust your 2nd and 3rd pin, position yourself as far away as you want and this time move only the pins
Compound archery equipment
To shoot with a Solognac compound bow you need to have a release aid mechanism. This device is attached to the wrist and hooks the cord onto the string called "D-loop". Pull the string with this tool and press the trigger when you want to release the arrow.
You can also use an arm guard or cuff to protect yourself from any friction from the string on the extended arm.
NEVER release the string without an arrow.
Bow hunting rules
In order to practice bow hunting, you must have a hunting permit. Then you must complete a Mandatory Training Day: MTD. Contact your hunting federation for further information.
You may also contact the bow hunting federation, as well as the county bow hunting association: https://www.ffca.site/page/406004-annuaire-des-associations.
Finally, practice in areas where hunting and archery are permitted.
